back at it
After a bit of a hiatus(ie I was really busy and didn’t have time to blog) I hope to get back to writing a bit here and there.  Summer school is down to the last week so I will have a lot more free time on my hands again.

Dear Wool Peacoat
283 Miles.  That is what seperates me from you.  I wasn’t checking the weather before I headed back to Dallas from Houston for school this week and forgot all about you.  So now I get to make due with a hoodie and a long sleeve shirt.  The lows are in the low to mid 30’s with the windchill making it feel a full 10 degrees cooler than that.  Glad I am heading back to Houston tomorrow...

Moving
I really hate moving, all the packing and unpacking.  I have 2 weeks before my brother and sis-in-law come up to help me move the bulk of my stuff out of my apartment in Arlington back to Houston.  This is going to be a crazy next two weeks for me.  I have a ton of readings and other stuff for class that I have to make it through and I have to pack my stuff.  The nice thing is a lot of what I...

Dear Blog,
I haven’t forgotten about you I promise.  Life has just gotten busy that is all.  I have lots of topics that I meant to cover but something always managed to come up.  Mainly it was after class naps and all the back episodes of survivor that I DVR’ed that I wanted to catch up on. Here is the concise version. 1. My brother and sister-in-law came to visit me when Ike blew through...

Thankful
My sister called me a few minutes ago and they are already in Conroe and on their way to stay with me in Dallas for the weekend.  Our house in Houston sits 23 miles inland.  At first they were going to just ride it out but decided against it this morning.  I just pray that they are able to make it here quickly and safely!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation.
September is here, and that means Summer is pretty much over.  I managed to keep myself pretty busy this summer.  Here is a run down. 1. Jamie and I flew to Charlotte, NC to see some great friends and my favorite band.  The trip was interesting to say the least. We spent 8 hours or so in Chicago in O’hare waiting on a flight that we either managed to get bumped off of, followed by a broken...

I got a ticket...I got a ticket...
For the first time in a long time, I got a speeding ticket.  I was driving back to Houston today from school and had my mind on a bunch of other things and not really paying attention to my speed until I saw the flashing lights behind me.  I was doing 83 in a 70.  Whoops.

Mobile Home Disaster
I don’t know if it can get anymore redneck than that.  I was flipping through channels tonight and stopped on CMT.  The name intrigued me.  Mobile Home Disaster.  I thought it would be one of those shows like on the discovery channel where tornadoes take out trailer parks.  No, not at all.  Apparently it is like the Extreme Makeover Home Edition of the trailer park.

Stay Gold
I just finished reading The Outsiders yet again.  I am not for sure how many times I have read that book.  In honor of a great book of my childhood here is a poem. Nothing Gold Can Stay Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can...

Fourth of July Plans
We are packing up the car and getting ready for our annual trip to the lake for the 4th.  I can’t wait!  Last year the rain had been so heavy that the river and lake were dangerously high and the waters were moving to quickly for us to get to go tubing or take the boat out on the water.  This year is different.  Everything has been pretty normal.  For the next four days I will spending my...

Livin' on a prayer...
That how my day seemed to be going.  Jamie and I are headed to North Carolina this weekend to hang out with some friends and go to Carowinds, our plans were almost cancelled due to some flight issues.  Airfare into Charlotte has been insanely high so my brother, who works for Continental,  was going to let us fly on his buddy passes.  No problem man 100 bucks round trip is awesome.  Until you find...

If you are ever in Houston →
If you are ever in Houston, I have to recommend Baba Yega’s. It’s this eclectic little cafe down in the Heights. It has one of the best fruit plates I have ever tasted. After you are done with that nice healthy meal stop by The Chocolate Bar. If it can be dipped in chocolate or molded out of chocolate this store sells it.

Nothing says good morning like Guitar Hero
All of Ricky’s friends from Louisiana are in town for the weekend.  I am still not for sure if they even slept. I fell asleep listening to someone playing Guitar Hero and woke up the same way. The last time they all came down, three guys somehow turned into six and the upstairs gameroom looked like a shelter with people sleeping all over the floor. The rest of the day consists of lunch at...

Summertime Songs
With classes out and Memorial day right around the corner, there is no better time than to throw together a new list of songs that envoke those feelings of summertime. 1.  Endless Summer - The Beachboys  — The entre records makes me want to open the sun roof and just drive. 2.  School’s Out - Alice Cooper 3.  Summer Lovin’ - Grease Soundtrack 4.  Summer of ‘69 - Bowling for...
